Hi there. My name is Baptiste, I’m a French art director. I’m currently working in Paris, at FCINQ (a small and passionate, multi-awarded studio, member of the M&C Saatchi.GAD Village).

Where I’ve been and what I’ve done.

In 2005, after an internship in England, I started working part time as an art director assistant along with multimedia studies at the Gobelins school of Paris. In 2007, I moved to Czech Republic & integrated Euro RSCG 4D Prague team as a flash designer. I had the opportunity to be part of an international team & to work on the early stages of projects for some big brands, sometimes in connection with Euro RSCG agencies from abroad (Paris & Amsterdam). I loved this experience ! In 2008 I came back to France and was hired as junior art director at Uzik. More or less one year later, I had the chance to become my own boss and to work as a freelancer. In 2010, after a sucessfull collaboration with FCINQ, those nice guys offered me a position and here I am. Once in a while I’ve been offered to be a speaker about social media, but I get more satisfaction by doing my job than by talking about it.

On a more personal note.

I’m fascinated by the Internet (yeah, literally) & passionate about graphic design. As far as I can remember, I’ve always been. I started to learn flash by myself in the early 2000s and I never stoped. But more than doing things, I like to have ideas. I think it’s connected. Thinking about stuff, presenting your ideas to the client, taking his feedback, thinking again and making your idea happen (yourself) is the most exciting thing on earth.

Aside my day-job I founded a non-profit organization : Webarchivists. We are working on web-archives, data sustainability and we try to raise interest around those subjects in people’s minds. I love the team I’ve the chance to work with on this project, they’re all very talented and If I’m proud of one thing I’ve done so far, it’s to have gathered them.

I’m interested in politics too. Because I think communication and politics are linked. You need to make people able to comprehend what you want to do, what you want to change for the best. Obviously the communication should not take the advantage on the politic and always remain honnest, but even the best politics with bad communication will always fail to reach a wide audience. At least, that what I think. If one day I leave advertising (and I think I will) it will be to join politics or NGO.

Other interests include electronic, hip-hop and baroque music, typography, grids, video games, travelling, open-source and crowd-funding initiatives, riding my bike, freediving, social entrepreneurship…

Controversies.

Because of my actions on the web and because I’m not anonymous, I’ve been involved in different controversies. I take absolutely no pride in it but I think I’ve got nothing to hide. Everytime, I acted according to my principles. Don’t worry though, I never killed anybody (or I don’t remember it).
